Our writers, staff and Pets on the Go members are always looking for and recommending unique places and spaces that welcome pets. Our accommodation reviews run the gamut, from five-star luxury hotels and country inns to California coastal bungalows and Adirondack lodges. We publish abridged reviews on the main site, and full length reviews on the members site.

The members' site offers hundreds of full page reviews -- each detailed description includes an overview of the accommodation, followed by details on room furnishings and amenities; the best rooms in the inn and those to avoid; as well as other creature comforts. Finally, we suggest the area’s best pet pastimes that should keep both you and your pet happily occupied. Pet Friendly Hotel on Captiva!

Located on Captiva, along a section that is so narrow that the Gulf beach and bay almost meet, lies the famous Tween Waters Inn. A favorite haunt of J. N. “Ding” Darling (who was as well known for his cartoons that chronicled the early preservation efforts for these barrier islands), the 'Tween Waters Inn is a charming old-fashioned pink shiplap cottage colony that overlooks both the Gulf and the bay.

Some of the cottages have been named after famous folks who frequented the island, Charles Lindbergh, Anne Morrow Lindbergh and Teddy Roosevelt. The cottages are as varied as their famous guests, with some providing just one cozy and romantic bedroom, while others are expansive and contain kitchens, living rooms with sleeper sofas, and screen porches with fireplaces. We prefer the cottages nestled under the trees, but for those who want to be elevated above the Gulf, there are also spacious hotel rooms and suites resting on stilts that look out onto the water.

Best of all, there are three tennis courts on the premises, as well as the classic Old Captiva House restaurant that is reminiscent of the days when Ding Darling vacationed here. Many guests also enjoy the casual dining at the Canoe and Kayak Club as well. There is water all around, including the resort’s pool, as well as the ability to get on the water. Just pop over to the marina and check out their charters, rentals, and water sport equipment.
